While Mary and Greg were visiting us over the holidays, they were wearing the strangest shoes e.v.e.r.!
Maybe some of you more athletic types are familiar with these 'finger shoes', but I had never seen anything like them.
Greg and Mary are runners, having completed a couple of half marathons, they're training now for a full marathon in the spring. They were told that these shoes, with separate toe pockets, are the next best thing to barefoot running. They love them. They wear them when they go shopping. They're getting used to people staring and commenting about the 'monkey feet'.
I don't think I could stand to wear anything that separated all of my toes, but to each his own I guess. They're apparently very good for running, no matter what they look like.
The major drawback? You can't wear socks with them so prolonged wearing of them makes your feet smell like...well...feet!
Weird, but wonderful, if it helps the kids with their running. Not for me though.

did you try them on to find out their secret?
Look at those feet! sandie
LOVED this. How cool. The marvels of modern technology to enhance our athleticism. My brother runs marathons. I wonder if he has a pair. Going to ask? Thanks for sharing. The photos are awesome.
Wow! Just look at those feet. I've never seen anything like that before, and I can imagine that people would look at them if they wear them to the supermarket!!! Still, as you say, if it helps them with their running, then that's a good thing.
Those feet/shoes are something totally new to me. I've never heard of or seen anything like them before. It's amazing how I learn something new every day of my life and you've provided that something today!
I've heard of those, but they don't tempt me. Running isn't my thing, and those shoes don't make it look any more enticing. I'm sure they cost plenty too. I'll let them have 'em.
I've seen them around, they are even too weird for me!
I think they look very uncomfortable!!
Look very interesting! I have never heard of them. Must get my marathon family members to try them... Thanks Pat!
They are strange looking footwear - they don't look very comfortable.
In love your header picture by the way :))
Oh! I've always wanted to try them!
Well, to each his own. Glad it works for them..I'll take a nice pair of suede boots myself.
I have heard about them... my daughters a runner... cool!
I saw a kid running in a pair of those shoes the other day. It made me want to look for a pair for me.
Boy I know a few people that would be fun to give those too. :)
Seth thinks they are grand too! Me not so much.
I agree, Pat - I can't have my toes separated like that ! lol but I see them everywhere I live with all the hikers, bikers, climbers - I don't stare at ALL of them .. :P
My grandson who is visiting says that he has seen a lot of these. What will they think of next? I cannot wear thongs (sandal thongs) because I don't like the separator between my toes so I know I couldn't wear these.
