Getting Ready for Christmas

Lloyd and I have spent the last few days getting our home ready for Christmas.  Now that Lloyd is retired and is home all the time he has time to spend doing these homey things, and he's discovered he really, really likes being involved in the decorating.

While he busied himself outside in the minus 37C (34.6 below zero F) temperatures, I had the easier, and warmer, job of decorating the inside of the house.

That's our little home in Lethbridge.

This is my very favorite picture so far this year...Lloyd freezing
his fingers for the sake of beautifying the house.  He had to
keep stopping to put his gloves on.

The finished front step area

Admiring his work.

And a night view.  He has since changed the red
spotlight to white.
He has some more decorating to do in the back yard.  He'll probably spend most of today working on it.

Meanwhile, inside the house, here are a few of my favorite things.

Colorful Nativity Ornaments

Christmas Owls and Jim Shore Santas.

Christmas angels
I hope you're enjoying this pre-Christmas season and all the bustle and work that goes into making it a fun and peaceful time for yourself and others around you.  Three of our daughters and one of our sons and their families will be visiting us at various times over the holidays, and we'll be visiting with our other son and two daughters and their families as well, so it'll be a busy time for us.

Merry Christmas!!! So festive!! I still haven't put any decor up outside. Too frigid.... and I forgot to get the ties for it. Soon!

I love your indoor decorations Pat, and kudos to Lloyd for braving those temperatures to put up your outside ones. Looking great. One day I would like to experience a white Christmas but not here, that would be just too drastic haha. A lot of people here spend Christmas day at the beach or picnicing somewhere but we tend to gather as a family at one home and spend most of the day together, great fun.

Just lovely and beautiful when it's all done!
Love your pictures! Too bad it's so cold outside! Next year Lloyd can start during the mild Fall days!
Know you'll have a wonderful time with your family!
Merry Christmas xo

You've got a good man there. I loved the Nativity Set. I want to get down to the Temple before Christmas to see all of their nativity set-ups. And I think I'll ride out to the new Gilbert Temple to see if they are decorating it. Can't wait to go inside of that. Come in January for the open house.

Lloyd is proud of his work and he should be.

Lovely decorations. I must say it takes a dedicated man to brave that cold and put lights up. BrrrChill! You all sure do get cold up there. Glad your hubby is enjoying retirement anyway. It must be nice to have him home more.

Yikes that is pretty cold. Poor Lloyd's fingers must have been frozen right enough. He did do a fine job though. Everything is looking lovely.
We are going through to our Laura's in Dundee on Christmas eve, I can't wait to see wee Riley's reaction to his first Christmas :))
