in three hours!
We've had a lovely weekend here and I've finally, as of last night, found the Christmas spirit - strange that it took the sun and desert to do for me what the snow and frost couldn't. Several of our neighbours here have large colorful Christmas displays up - looks so pretty with the lights on at night, but a bit odd to me too without any snow, coats, boots, etc. I haven't taken any pictures yet but will get into it soon.
We started our Christmas shopping yesterday and it looks like I may have to buy another suitcase in order to get it all home.
We had our first American Thanksgiving dinner on Friday - a week early but Kim (our nephew Mark's wife) will be in Canada on Thanksgiving day and wanted to 'do' thanksgiving while she was still here. It was lovely, she's such a good cook. Mark and his boys are here this week and will be taking Kim back with them when they leave on Friday. I wrote about Kim and Mark when they got engaged a while back.
In order to expedite her immigration process, they got married a couple months ago and visit back and forth between Canada and Arizona as often as possible. Hopefully the process will proceed smoothly and they can be together full time before too long. Mark is bringing the boys (15 and 12) over this afternoon to play in the pool. Native Arizonans shudder when we mention swimming in the winter but Lloyd and I were in the pool yesterday and it was heavenly. Air temp was 73F but the water temp was 87 - sooo nice.
Lloyd will be heading north on Friday and my friend Mickey will be arriving the same day to spend a week shopping, sightseeing and scrapbooking...our three esses that spell fun in Arizona for us.
We're really enjoying our respite from winter. I hope its nice where you are too.

There is no snow here so I guess that is a respite from winter anyway. It's in the 40's today and anything above freezing is wonderful. So glad to hear you enjoyed a thanksgiving dinner and found that Christmas spirit too. Enjoy!
Well you know its not nice where I am,lol, but I'm planning to live through you and your warmth:)
I'm glad you found your Christms spirit. Mine is missing but I'm working on it:)
Our stupid media are talking about temperatires 'plummeting at the weekend ..... but only down to the norm for this time of year, after a spell of mild weather ...... and they are getting in a state about snow on the mountains - which is NORMAL!!
Finding that Christmas spirit WHATEVER the WEATHER is a good thing. I think Arizona sounds very nice. ENJOY your respite from all things COLD. Turkey dinner with your nephew and family sounded wonderful. Looking forward to seeing the Christmas decorations of your neighbors. Am I nosy or what? LOL Take care.
You are lucky finding your Christmas spirit. I can't find mine anywhere. Just doesn't feel Christmassy to me yet.
Sounds like you are having a rare time in Arizona.
Loved seeing the difference in the weather conditions from the photos you posted for us today. Amazing, when you are only three hours away. Sounds like you are going to be having a super time. Enjoy, and make the most of being in the pool and all that lovely sunshine!
That is surely 3 hours flying time and not driving time? Incredible to see the difference in the weather conditions. Enjoy your time doing those 3 s's !!
OK, first, how is your pool so warm? Ours is only 68 or so. Is yours heated? Second, how do you get the holiday spirit more in this arid desert than in the snow? That's just something I don't get here. Have a good Thanksgiving. Swim on!
It is soo wonderful!!
Welcome to Arizona!! Sounds like you're already settling in and having fun. Enjoy that pool. :)
I didn't realize it was only a three hour drive! sandie
What a lovely winter home you have. I too am in Arizona where the sky is filled with sun and the temperatures are just unbelievable. I am not feeling Christmas this year as we are not going home until Spring.
Ha! another suitcase you say! Never have I ever have I heard of such a thing!
Hope our flights are overlapping so only one trip on Friday.
See you soon!
Do you suffer any identity crisis from splitting your homes this way?
