Like a Duck to Water...

We've been home bodies while in Arizona this week - venturing out of our air conditioned comfort only to shop or do chores like taking the car in for servicing, etc.

On one such outing we discovered a lovely duck pond in one of the retirement communities nearby so we stopped to take pictures.  Well, that lasted 5 minutes - maybe 7 - until the oppressive heat sent us back to the cool comfort of the car.  I did manage to get a few pictures though.

Ducks are such fun to watch.  They were at the other end of the pond when we walked down to the water but when they saw us they all jumped in and started swimming toward us.  I was bemoaning the fact that I hadn't brought any bread for them to eat when I saw the sign forbidding any such feeding of waterfowl.  I guess the ducks saw us reading the sign because they immediately veered off away from us - smart creatures.

The white one seems to be grooming the feathers of the brown one

My 'duckie'

I've been having a bit of a problem with pictures lately.  Some don't post right away but show up later as HUGE pictures in the middle of the post.  My apologies if this is what you're getting.  I'm still trying to sort the problem out.

Everytime we go down to the lake we take a zillion duck photos. They are just special creatures. Had to chuckle when you said the ducks saw you reading the sign saying you couldn't feed them and swam away. Sounds like you're enjoying your visit, even with the heat. ENJOY and keep cool.

I understand how you feel about the heat. We are having a tropical Friday here and have a heat warning as the temps are to be around 100 degrees. Hard to believe that by Monday we'll be down to around 70 for a high with some storms in between. I am sitting in the camper cooling off in the a/c right now after unloading the car. I'll go back out in a bit. We are all shaded here by the trees so hopefully it won't be so bad. I love your pictures. They seem to have all come out right today. Have a wonderful Friday!

We have lots of small ponds in our neighborhood all filled with ducks. I love to see them. They walk across the roads quite often and we all stop to let them waddle by.

Well we are definately not struggling with the heat. It is getting positively chilly here.
Those ducks are so cute and I especially love the picture of your 'duckie' lol.

The dining room at my parent's retirement home faced a pond and stream and the residents and guests could watch the ducks come and go. Each time a duck hatched a batch of ducklings, everyone would marvel and rejoice. They would watch this mama care for her young and march them to and from the pond each day. This was the best entertainment.

Hi Pat. We have a fishing lake 5 minutes from us with ducks and Canadian Geese, and I love being there. Loved your photos today, and they came out fine. Hope it cools down a little for you soon!
